Lethonia Barnes

Lethonia Barnes was elected mayor of Florence in 2024. Barnes, a graduate of South Carolina State University, is a longtime business owner who for 28 years owned and operated a beauty salon and barber shop in downtown Florence. As mayor, Barnes champions affordable housing, job creation, public safety, and infrastructure improvements. A member of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce board of directors, Barnes has also served on the Community Development Committee, Civic Center Commission, and Florence Area Transportation Study Committee.
